RE couple of the week #2

Now there's your Jill Sandwich
The votes are in! This week's couple of the week is:

Chris and Jill! Not surprising really. The fanbase for these two is ginormous.

Chris and Jill first appeared together in Resident Evil 1, and have been in most RE titles together (with the exception of RE six, and the games that neither of them were in) to date. While no real romance is between them, their closeness suggests that they may have a thing going. Especially seeing how shook up Chris was over Jill's death in RE5.

Hopefully, a romance can be seen between these two within a RE title at some point. Although, with Capcom insisting that nothing romantic is going on between them, it seems unlikely.

Recommended fanfiction: Oh geez. That's a tough one.

Jill Valentine: Professional BOW exterminator and matchmaker. Technically, it's a ParkerxRaymond fic, but JillxChris is in there too.

There are a lot. You probably won't have to look far for some good ones either.

Resident Evil Wii release review

This is it muchachos, the review of all reviews. The game that started it all: Resident Evil. Dun-Dun-Dun!

Oh, if you hate a challenge, don't play this game. We here at the hub (yes. That's the name of our new HQ) still haven't finished the game, and if you could point us into the direction of a good thorough walkthrough, that would be fantastic. You can email us at IdiotFanNerd@gmail.com or leave a comment in this post. But I digress. The game, while challenging, is definitely one for the collection. Even if you never ever finish it.

Those of you who were paying attention in RE history class will know that they game follows S.T.A.R.S. Alpha team on an investigation in the Arklay mountains when Bravo team's helicopter crashes. After a run in with infected dogs, they end up in a seemingly abandoned mansion. The nightmare begins.

The control scheme and item screen are almost identical to Zero, so it can be quite difficult to get the hang of. Our tip would be to move your character around the enormous table in the dining room until you get the hang of running and turning.

Then there's the puzzles. Oh god, the puzzles. If you complete the game without once cursing the name of Oswell E. Spencer or Capcom, you: A. Are a genius at puzzles, B. have played the game before or C. have a very good walkthrough.

When he likes you for your brains.
The game has come along way since 1996 in ways of graphics, as well as minor story changes and dialogue (yes, the Jill sandwich is still there... we think) for example, they cut the bit where Joseph finds the severed hand before being ripped to pieces by dogs. Shame. We enjoyed that bit.

Overall: The game has fantastic graphics, difficult controls, impossible puzzles and is definitely a classic.

Resident Evil Romance Of The Week #1

Due to lack of games and gaming devices (we aren't made of money you know) we can't always post game reviews, which is why we gave you fanfiction the other week. So that we don't always have to give you lamo fanfiction when we run out of reviewing ideas, here's our brand-spanking new weekly post idea. Resident Evil romance of the week! Yay!

First up,

Rebecca Chambers and Billy Coen!

Background history:

Billy and Rebecca first appeared together in Resident Evil 0, on the Ecliptic Express. They then appeared together again in the Umbrella Chronicles on, you guessed it, the Ecliptic Express. While Rebecca has appeared in several other RE games, including the original Resident Evil, Billy has only appeared in zero and Umbrella Chronicles. His whereabouts are currently unknown, but he is probably alive. Most likely. We hope.

Recommended fanfiction:

Coen Residence, a Resident Evil fanfiction. Available on Fanfiction.net, it tells the story of what might've happened if Billy followed Rebecca into the Spencer Mansion.

Feel free to email or comment your suggestions for next weeks RE couple of the week!

What Do You Want From Resident Evil 7?

We found this little gem on google images. While it's obviously
fake, it's certainly promising.
What do you guys want to see from Resident Evil 7?

This is what we wanted:

1. We want RE7 to be like RE1. With plenty of puzzles, and the survival horror aspect that got a bit lost in some of the more recent titles.

2. No new characters. Bring back the others: Sheva, Parker, Claire, Carlos, Barry, all the guys we've left behind.

3. Wesker. He can't be dead, surely. How many times has he supposedly been dead in the past, only to come back?

4. The Genesis scanner from RE Revelations.

5. Romance. Not necessarily Chris and Jill (although that would be nice) but maybe Claire and Leon. Carlos and Jill perhaps? Ooh, ooh, Raymond and Parker? ...Did I go too far?

6. A completely new battle field. We've had a cruise ship in Gaiden and Revelations, a village in 4 and 5 and a city in 3, 2 and several other spin off games, a train in 0 as well as a training facility that looked similar to the mansion in 1, an island in Veronica, and many other places. Something new would be good. There's plenty of ideas...

Those were a few of our thoughts, but enough about what we think. What do you think?

What's The Deal With Raymond Vester?

A look at the sullen FBC agent from Resident Evil Revelations

Warning, this article contains game plot spoilers, and should not be read unless you've either finished the game, or don't care about the best plot twist of all time being ruined for you forever.

Let me start of by saying that I love Raymond. I think I'd go far enough to say that I love him slightly more than Parker (Yes. I went there) but I have to admit that I had my doubts about him throughout the game, but he seemed like his heart was in the right place. When Jessica shot him (bitch) I cried. I didn't care that he was a terrorist, he wasn't all bad. He couldn't be.
That was proven when it was revealed that he wasn't dead (days of our lives flashback) and he tried to stop Jessica from activating the ship's self destruct mechanism. When he found Parker, saved him, and smiled genuinely for the first time, I fell in love all over again. I trusted him. We all did. But I assumed that they didn't make it off the boat.

Raymond saving Parker on the Zenobia. I knew he was a good guy
I killed Norman and hoped he rotted in hell for the months of frustration he put me through, and for helping to kill Parker, Raymond, Quint and Keith. Then, one by one, they were all found alive and well (seriously, days of our lives flash back. They may as well have woken up on the island) but where was Raymond? I sat through the whole credits coming to terms with the fact that he must have died.

And then he handed Jessica the T-Abyss virus. He was alive, sure, but I almost wished he wasn't. He was working with her the whole time. He was evil, a killer. I cried, again.

My favourite fanfiction writers chose to believe that Raymond was blackmailed. I believed them.
But, during a YouTube session, I found the prologue to Resident Evil Revelations that explained what happened to Rachael. In the video, Raymond can be seen in his Veltro disguise, injecting people with the T-Abyss.

So, who the hell is Raymond Vester anyway? Is he really a bio-terrorist TRICELL agent?

Let's start from the beginning.

2004

Parker and Raymond during the Terragrigia
Panic.
The year of the Terragrigia panic. Raymond Vester was an inexperienced agent working for the FBC. After being injured by a B.O.W. known as a Farfarello, he was rendered unable to walk and was left trapped in a hallway with nothing but a handgun and a few bullets to fend of the growing number of Hunters. Fortunately, his superiors Parker Luciani and Jessica Sherawat found him, and took him to the command room. It was in the command room that he overheard Morgan Lansdale's conversation with Jack Norman. It was then that he realised Morgan was working with Veltro, and was most likely involved with the Terragrigia panic. Jessica and Parker joined the B.S.A.A., but Raymond stayed put and worked as a mole inside the FBC.
The Veltro Crest

2004 - 2005

According to the info I gathered on Raymond, at some point in between the Terragrigia Panic and the incident on the Zenobia, Raymond supposedly joined TRICELL. This is assumed due to a bonus video known as Jessica's report which you can look up on YouTube. In the video, Jessica is talking to Excella (affiliated with TRICELL in RE5) and the TRICELL logo can be seen. Since Jessica and Raymond were working together, it is assumed that he was also a double agent for TRICELL, although no one really knows. What we do know is that at some point between the two incidents, Raymond must have contacted Clive R. O'Brian and told him about Morgan's suspected involvement with Veltro.

2005
The year of the Queen Zenobia incident. So, the whole incident was dreamt up by O'Brian and Vester to catch Morgan out as a terrorist.
Raymond must have had three missions going on simultaneously.
1. O'Brian's mission. Raymond had to deceive Parker and Jill into thinking that Veltro was on board. That meant he had to go around dressed as a terrorist.
2. Lansdale's mission. As an FBC agent, Raymond was sent with partner Rachael to see if the B.S.A.A. posed a threat.
3. TRICELL/Jessica's mission. Raymond presumably had to secure a sample of the T-Abyss virus and bring it to Jessica.
If you think about it, Raymond should probably get a medal for multitasking. But, I can probably come up with a logical solution for everything that happened.

Scenario 1: The Blackmailing Of Raymond Vester
So, Parker saved Raymond's life in the Terragrigia Panic (Oh, and Jessica was there too, but nobody cares about her anyway)
Let's say that Raymond was blackmailed into helping Jessica. Raymond probably feels like he owes Parker something, the guy saved his life after all. I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard for Jessica to convince the Cadet to work with her, if Parker's life was threatened. That also explains why he saved Parker. But why didn't he tell that to Jessica when she asked? Pfft. What business is it of hers? Nosey cow.
As for injecting the people on the boat, they were probably working on the virus. Raymond got angry, so he killed them with their own virus knowing that the ship would most likely be obliterated, and the workers would only hinder Raymond's mission. Come on, they were evil.
Scenario 2: The Dying Relative
Instead of being blackmailed, a relative has an illness? I don't know. I like scenario one better. Still, it's possible.
Scenario 3: Raymond. The Money Hungry Traitor
Maybe Raymond really just did it for the money. Maybe that's it. Nah. That can't be what happened. Can it?
Scenario 4: Raymond, the hero of RE7
Raymond was blackmailed, did it to save Parker and all of that. Parker finds out and forgives him, and Raymond joins the B.S.A.A. and shows up with every character that's ever been in Resident Evil that isn't dead, in Resident Evil 7. And he saves the day. And nobody dies except Wesker, who's back from the dead somehow.
Yep. That's what I want. All I want. Is that too damn difficult for you Capcom?
Whatever you choose, remember that Raymond can't be all bad. After all, he saved Parker.

Come on. He's not evil. Look at that face!

Resident Evil zero wii review

There are some games that you simply have to play in your life. One of those is Resident Evil Zero.

The game takes place twenty four hours before the events of Resident Evil and follows the Bravo team that were sent to investigate a series of cannibalistic homicides in the Arklay Mountains. After finding an overturned police vehicle and two dead officers that were supposedly transporting serial killer and ex-marine Billy Coen, Bravo team is on high alert. Rebecca, the rookie of the team, stumbles across one of Umbrella Corporation's trains; The Ecliptic Express, and goes to investigate.

The train is soon found to be infested with zombies, and Rebecca ends up fighting for her life. Eventually, she comes across LT. Coen, who convinces her that they must team up in order to stay alive.

Zero follows a similar look and control system to Resident Evil, with an almost identical item menu, aside from one feature: it shows the health and inventory of two characters instead of one. Which brings me to RE Zero's claim to fame.

Unlike other RE titles with an NPC partner, Zero allows you alternate between Rebecca and Billy at any time. This makes for some interesting gameplay and unique puzzles.

While the controls are difficult to get along with at first, a few practise laps up and down a train car should have you moving the duo like a pro in no time.

Since Billy and Rebecca each have plentiful inventories, you are able to carry many items at once. Although I guarantee that you'll still be juggling items and working out which ones you can afford to leave behind at some point in the game. Unfortunately, since there are no item boxes, your only option is to leave them on the floor and pray that you'll either be able to remember where you left it, or that you won't need it (word of advice, don't ever leave their handguns behind. You'll regret it when you run out of ammo for your shotgun.)

I found the game easier than RE, (but I had a pretty good walkthrough) and I always loved games that moved along at a decent pace, it prevents boredom. However, I would suggest that you either use a walkthrough, or you have a good long think about which character you want to send to the end of that train, or to the top of the training facility roof. Otherwise, you might get yourself killed, or have to retrace your steps to get something vital for continuing the game (like a hook shot, or a hunting gun)

Overall: The game is fast paced, with creepy music and difficult bosses. If you're anything like me, you'll want to know Billy's dark past, and who's the mysterious man with the creepy singing voice and the pile of leeches, and that should keep you interested up to the final boss battle with "Queenie"

Silent Hill PS Review

I first fell in love with this game the same way I fell in love with most games; by watching Pewdiepie play it.

I haven't played as much of the game as I usually do, but I've watched every let's play video Pewds ever made about it, so I like to think I know the game pretty well.

As you would expect from an Atari PlayStation 1 game that came out in 1999, the graphics are terrible. But that's not the point. Plot wise, the game is phenomenal. It's confusing, and terrifying in a psychological way, (and I've always said, there's nothing scarier than a little girl in a horror game)

The plot follows Harry Mason, a thirty something writer who planned a quiet vacation with his daughter Cheryl in the sleepy town of Silent Hill. However, his car crashes, rendering him unconscious and when he does wake up, Cheryl is gone. The objective is simple. Find her.

However, the town is covered by mist, and overrun with monsters. Expect a wild goose chase in this game. Apparently, Harry never taught Cheryl the importance of not running away from her parents.

The dialogue is worse than Resident Evil, with unbearably long pauses between speaking, but the voices themselves are more convincing than Chris and Wesker from the original RE.

I use the map much more than I do in Resident Evil titles, because you can hardly see two feet in front of you and it's easier to get lost in SH than it is in any other game I've ever played.

There's bound to be some confusion when you die as to whether that was supposed to happen, or whether you were just low on health, if you aren't presented with a cut scene a few moments after death, expect the latter.

The plot can be confusing and hard to follow at times, but it doesn't matter. Just do what the map says, and you'll be fine.

Overall:

The graphics are terrible, the plot is confusing and the dialogue is unbearable. However, for reasons I Can't explain, it's still one of the best god damn horror games I've ever played.

Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition Review

I've been excited to play Resident Evil 4 for a while since most critics are saying it's still one of the best. I'd have to agree with them.

The game was released in 2005, but creation began in 1999 which means it was in development for six years. It really shows in the small details and well thought out plot.

The gameplay is fantastic, with the over the shoulder perspective I adore and the iconic typewriter saving system, minus the ink ribbons, which means you can save whenever you see a typewriter.

As with most games, it's the little things that make the game enjoyable. Shoot an enemy in the hand and they'll drop their weapon, shoot them in the leg and they'll fall over.

When you finally do rescue Ashley, the game gets challenging. You have to share the herbs and health sprays between her and Leon because if either one of you dies, it's game over. Also, enemies can pick her up and carry her off, which also means game over unless you shoot the enemy before he carries her too far away.

A Los Ganado making off with Ashley
There are occasionally empty dumpsters that you can hide her in, just be sure to remember where you put her.

If you jump down a ladder, you have to turn around and catch her, which is kind of cute.

Ugh, but sackhead.  If you don't at least flinch when you hear that chainsaw start up, you have nerves of steel.

I would highly recommend Resident Evil 4 to any RE fan, either veteran or beginner.

fanfiction because fanfiction

Hey Guys! Sorry to anyone who looks at this blog for my lack of posts, but I like to explore a substantial amount of the game before I review it, and since I'm such a sucky gamer, I haven't got far enough into any of the games I got for Xmas, so unless you want to see some really crappy, unnecessary flash game reviews, you'll have to make do with fan fiction.

Which reminds me, you can email me your fan fiction (Strictly Resident Evil) at IdiotFanNerd@gmail.com and I'll post it, with full credit to you of course.

Until then, all I have is my terrible dribble since I don't know anyone who likes RE.
Enjoy.

WARNING! CONTAINS GAME PLOT SPOILERS FOR RESIDENT EVIL REVELATIONS.

Description: Keith quits his job in Africa and comes home. Because there is no way in hell you can keep Jackass and Grinder apart. Sorry if the characters seem a little OOC. This is one of my first Quint and Keith fanfics.

Keith looked out of the plane’s window as they came in for landing. He knew Quint would already be at the airport, and that pleased him. He hadn’t seen his best friend in a little over a year. Of course, Quint had called him every week and emailed him even more frequently, but it wasn’t quite the same.

Sure enough, Quint was waiting impatiently. Keith had expected nothing more than an eager hello and one of those awkward man-hugs, but he definitely got more than he bargained for.

“Grinder!” Quint yelled before running over to his best friend as fast as he could.

“Hey Qui-” Keith’s words were interrupted when Quint pounced on him, and threw his arms around the taller man.

“Don’t ever leave me again! Ever!” Quint told him. Keith laughed a little and patted Quint’s back awkwardly.

“Ok, ok. I promise. You can get off me now.” Quint made no attempt at letting go, “Quint... people are staring.” Keith muttered.

“I, uh, missed you.” Quint said with a cough, realising his foolishness.

Keith grinned.

“I missed you too. You didn’t mess up my room did you?” He asked as they walked towards the terminal.

“Nah, I pretty much left it alone.”

“Good. Otherwise, it’d take me ages to get everything right again.”

Quint laughed.

“It’s good to have you back, Grinder.”

“It’s good to be back.” Keith replied.
Ok, I know it's short, but it was supposed to be a little snippet from this huge book I wrote with me in it (I'm just that sad) If you want more, lemme know.
Thanks.
